Poppins Payroll: Achieving Excellence through the BEN Signature Program

In the spring of 2023, Poppins Payroll participated in the BEN Signature Program, aiming to simplify payroll and tax management for nannies, housekeepers, senior caregivers, and other household employees. At the program's outset, CEO and Co-Founder Mike Wussow managed a sizable client base in Colorado. Today, Poppins Payroll has increased its client base by 25% across 40 states, alongside other significant milestones.

Mike has led Poppins Payroll as CEO since September 2017. Under his leadership, the company has since grown from 112 clients in one state to an impressive 16,000 active clients in 40 states. Before joining Poppins, Mike practiced law at various firms, graduating with honors from the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he was a Senior Editorial Board member of the Law Review. He clerked for a Justice on the Wisconsin Supreme Court and worked at Sidley Austin, representing national retail and restaurant companies. Mike along with his Co-Founder and wife Alina Nisenzon discovered their passion for entrepreneurship with Poppins Payroll.

Following the BEN Company Session, Mike initiated monthly meetings with his small advisory group over a year-long period.

This group played their role in helping Mike build effective solutions to tackle certain challenges impeding their scaling efforts. As a result, Poppins Payroll not only grew its client base, but the team also launched an employee portal and a mobile app to enhance accessibility.

Currently, they are the largest independent household payroll provider, boasting an average customer review of 4.9 out of 5 and recognized on the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in America for its remarkable 724% growth over three years.

Additionally, in March of 2024, they partnered with Gusto, a leading technology company offering payroll, benefits, and compliance services. Looking ahead, Poppins Payroll plans to introduce several exciting new features soon.

Congratulations to Mike, Alina and the entire Poppins Payroll team. We eagerly anticipate their continued success following graduation from the BEN Colorado Signature Program.
