Bringing the Magic of Bikes to Denver Second Graders

At BEN Colorado, we believe in the power of connection, community, and giving back. Last week, we had the privilege of partnering with Wish for Wheels to create a day filled with joy, teamwork, and unforgettable memories for second graders in Denver. Together, the BEN community brought the magic of bikes to children who might not otherwise have access to one.

Our ‘Team Build & Give’ event brought together BEN team members, board members, advisors, and entrepreneurs for a hands-on day of giving back. There’s something uniquely special about the process of turning a pile of parts into a shiny new bike ready to ride, creating something tangible and meaningful for others. As we worked together to build the bicycles, the energy in the space was electric, with each completed bike feeling like a milestone was achieved.

Putting the bikes together was a fun and memorable experience, but the true highlight of the day came when the children arrived to receive their new set of wheels. Their excitement was contagious and their smiles lit up the room as they picked out their bikes and had their helmets fitted, all with the assistance of our wonderful community. Helping these students take their first wobbly rides was nothing short of magical and an incredible start to the holiday season.

For many of these children, this was their very first bike, and the significance wasn’t lost on anyone. It seemed like everyone in the room was blissfully reflecting on memories of their own first bikes, remembering how that first taste of freedom, adventure, and independence felt.

It was inspiring to see our BEN network–entrepreneurs, advisors, and friends–come together to make this incredible day a reality for so many children. Beyond the tangible impact, it was a powerful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together for a common goal. A heartfelt thanks to everyone who got involved!
